Uppcoder Demo: Education
One platform for every kind of course: programming courses where each assignment brings its own starter code and tests, runs in a lab the whole class shares and marks itself, through to courses built from lessons and questions, with multiple choice marked the moment a student submits and written answers marked by the educator. Try both at Bayside College, our example school.
A coding course: Web apps with py4web
Assignments that carry starter code, tests and a solution, worked in one lab for the whole class.
- Tested in the lab before students get it: the solution must pass, the starter must fail
- One lab for the class: VS Code and a terminal in the browser, each student in their own folder
- Students run their own app on a private link, then submit and get their grade from the tests
A course with questions: Incident Command basics
Lessons with multiple choice and written answers, answered in the portal. No lab, nothing to install.
- Sections fold away as the student ticks each step off, so the page stays short
- Multiple choice is marked the moment the student submits
- Written answers are marked by the educator, each mark beside its answer
What you'll see
- Programming courses: starter code, tests and a solution per assignment; VS Code and a terminal in the browser, one lab for the class
- Autograding from each assignment's own tests, and a rubric for the parts a person should judge
- Courses with questions: multiple choice, true or false and written answers in sections, answered in the portal with no lab
- One place to mark: what marks itself is done, what needs a person is listed for the educator and the teaching assistants
- Every course and assignment kept in git with a label per publish, ready to run again next term
- Students join by an emailed invitation and then sign in with their own password; Moodle schools sign in through Moodle
